The Great Florida Birding & Wildlife Trail Facebook page asks followers to participate in Saturday Share: a weekly contest where fans are asked to share photos of Florida wildlife based on a prompt. They choose the best photos to feature and winners receive a small gift in the mail. The prompt for that week was, “Photos of backyard wildlife,” and my shot of a Gray wall jumper was chosen as one of the featured photos! Check out my entry below!

I am very proud, considering I am new to macro photography. Macro insect photography not only means getting into the weeds (literally!), but you have to carefully frame your shot and manually focus the lens. It’s extremely rewarding when you’re able to capture such a small and curious creature.
One of my favorite things about this hobby is learning about the different animals that call Florida their home. I like to use iNaturalist to identify unknown critters and occasionally share my own observations with the community.
